Esther Siddiquie’s work departs from a choreographic practice through which she explores the potentiality of somatic archival work. Her practice entails performative stagings of sensory encounters with archival objects, exploring the notion of ghostly matter between human and more than human entanglements. She is a 2023-24 DAAD scholarship holder and a recipient of the Charlotte Kirk Patrick Award. She frequently collaborates with choreographers Charlotte Triebus and Zwoisy Mears-Clarke. Her works, ranging from Photography to performative occasions, and choreographic installations have been shown at CAC Vilnius, Galerie Wedding, Favoriten Festival, atelier automatique, schwere reiter, kitev - LEERSTAND, Kunstmuseum Bochum, Tanzhaus NRW, Dance Umbrella Festival, New Lab, The Place, and Sadler's Wells. A graduate of London Contemporary Dance School and NYU Tisch School of the Arts, she is currently a PhD candidate in Advanced Practices within the Visual Cultures Department at Goldsmith University of London. Her research involves a critical examination of a film archive of UNESCO World-Cultural Heritage Sites by her late father, Shabbir Siddiquie.
